For more than four decades, James F. Wade Sr. has devoted his life to service. He has served as a soldier, a federal leader, a community advocate, and a champion for veterans and families across Maryland. He is now running for Charles County Commissioner for District 3 with one mission. He wants to continue serving the people of this community with integrity, compassion, and unwavering commitment.

James has proudly called Waldorf home for 20 years. This is where he and his wife Gaylene, built their life, raised their family, and strengthened their ties to the community they deeply care about District 3 is not just where he lives. It is where he leads, volunteers, advocates, and builds relationships every day.
Decades of Proven Leadership
James brings more than 40 years of high-level leadership experience that has prepared him to serve with strength and clarity on the Board of Commissioners. His career includes:
• He served 22 years in the United States Army and earned respect through discipline, service, and commitment to mission success.
• He served 18 years in the federal government, including leadership roles with the Department of State in Afghanistan and Iraq, the United States Agency for International Development, and as Senior Strategic Management Analyst with the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery.
Across every role, James led people, strengthened systems, and solved complex problems. His ability to unite teams and navigate challenging environments is exactly the leadership Charles County needs.
A Champion for Veterans, Families, and Community Progress
James has dedicated his life to elevating others, especially veterans, seniors, working families, and underserved communities.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Baltimore War Memorial Commission. He is also a Commissioner on the Charles County Veterans Affairs Commission and the Charles County Democratic Central Committee. In addition, he serves as Vice Chair of the Joint Veterans Committee.
His past leadership includes serving as State Commander of the Maryland Veterans of Foreign Wars. In that role, he represented more than 18,000 veterans and their families.
From organizing countywide job fairs, to expanding veteran support networks, to advocating for stronger state legislation, James has consistently delivered results that make life better for people.
Community Memberships and Service
James is an active member of numerous civic and veteran organizations. His memberships include NARFE where he serves as Chapter President, the Lions Club where he serves as District Treasurer, the Elks Lodge where he chairs the Veterans Affairs Committee, the Maryland Military Coalition, Disabled American Veterans, the National Association for Black Veterans, and several other community and service organizations.
A Family Built on Service
James and his wife, Gaylene, have been married for 21 years. They share a blended family of five children. Three of his children proudly serve in the United States Navy. Service is not simply part of James’s story. It is the foundation of his family and his life.

Vision
James Wade is a passionate advocate for the community of Charles County, running for Commissioner in District 3. With a commitment to enhance economic opportunities, improve infrastructure, and promote government accountability, his campaign focuses on being the voice that protects and uplifts neighborhoods, ensuring a high quality of life for all residents. Charles County community deserves transparent leadership, smart growth, and a strong voice at the county level.
James Wade is running for Commissioner because he believes District 3 deserves a leader who listens, leads by example, and puts people first. He wants to ensure that the county decisions reflect the voices of our residents, explore solutions that support and protect the quality of life that makes Charles County a great place to live, work, and raise a family, and ensure county government works efficiently and fairly for everyone. His priorities include:
• Strengthening public safety and community trust.
• Supporting veterans, military families, and seniors.
• Expanding economic opportunity and workforce development.
• Improving roads, infrastructure, and transportation access.
• Ensuring transparent, accountable, and responsible county government.
• Protecting neighborhoods, schools, and quality of life.
